The Presidential Elections of the United States are nearing and with it the misuse of AI is rising too – for manipulation of the sentiment of voters. The usage of Artificial Intelligence on social media has potentially been planned out to sway the voters for the upcoming presidential elections.
There are several governmental entities and tech companies who are closely monitoring this situation regarding the spread of misinformation by the use of AI.
There are several reports stating that people are making AI generated social media campaigns which very heavily focus on extremely political topics like political symbols & figures, gun violence, etc.
On the positive side of all of this, AI is also being used to help in detecting misinformation as well. The CEO and Founder of Accrete has said that AI’s deepfakes and other applications that are AI-based actually pose a very serious threat.
